What is the ACT?

The ACT is a standardized test used by American universities to assess students’ readiness for college. It is developed and published by the ACT nonprofit. The ACT is designed to test fundamental math, reading, data analysis and writing skills that students learn in high school and will use in college. The ACT is offered worldwide multiple times every year, and students can take it as many times as they wish to. The ACT has five components: English, Math, Reading, Science, and the optional Essay. Students taking the ACT receive a score from 1 to 36. 1.9 million students take the ACT every year.
