Trigonometry is the branch of mathematics that deals with relations of sides and angles of triangles and with the relevant functions of any angles as a whole. When non right angled triangle trigonometry was introduced, we used the unit circle to give meaning to the trigonometric ratios for obtuse angles. Trigonometric functions are functions which involve one of the trigonometric ratios. This provides a basic understanding of trigonometry and is further dealt with in the next chapter. This chapter discusses periodic behaviour, the sine and cosine functions, general sine and cosine functions, modelling periodic functions and the tangent function.
