Financial Aid

All the grants Duke provides are based on need, which means you receive them because of your family’s financial situation.

Merit Scholarships: All students who apply to Duke are considered for merit scholarships. The Office of University Scholars and Fellows selects merit scholars.

Outside Scholarships: Outside scholarships are offered by a wide variety of organizations. Learn more about how to find them and how they affect your financial aid.

2. State Governments/State Agencies

For Federal Work Study student participants:

  1. Payroll will deduct 75% of the allocated earnings to be paid to the student
  2. The remaining 25% of the allocated earnings is deducted from the department’s cost center.

For Duke Work Study student participants:

  1. Payroll will deduct 50% of the allocated earnings to be paid to the student
  2. The remaining 50% of the allocated earnings is deducted from the department’s cost cente
