FAQs – Cambridge IGCSE Tuition Classes

Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) is a part of the world-renowned University of Cambridge, U.K. and is among the world’s leading providers of International qualifications and assessments. They are the oldest and the largest International Exam board, conducting 2.25 million exams a year in 160 countries.

There are 4 Programmes offered by CIE (Cambridge International Examinations):

  • Cambridge Primary: age range: 5-11 years.
  • Cambridge Secondary 1: age range 11-14 years.
  • Cambridge Secondary 2 (IGCSE): age range 14-16 years.
  • Cambridge Advanced: age range 16-19 years.

The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is a comprehensive two-year programme, distributed over Class 9 and 10. The final examination will be taken at the end of Class 10. All Indian Boards and Universities accept IGCSE as equivalent to SSC/ICSE/CBSE.

IGCSE is a balanced and academically difficult educational curriculum. It was created with students’ intellectual, social, emotional, and physical well-being in mind. This programme is designed for students who desire to get a worldwide perspective. It is appropriate not only for those planning to pursue higher education abroad, but also for anyone seeking an international education.

All Higher education institutes in India recognise the A/AS level for admissions into the undergraduate programmes.

Physics, Chemistry and Math at the Higher Level are recommended for students interested in Engineering, either in India or abroad. Physics, Chemistry, and Biology are required for studying medicine in India. Medicine in the UK requires 2 Higher Level sciences.

Written exams aren’t the only type of assessment available. In some disciplines, they also include oral and listening tests. To receive the IGCSE certificate, a student must pass five topics. The ICE is given to a student who attempts and passes seven or more subjects (International Certificate of Education).

A level is equivalent to Grade 12 in India and is completed over 2 years with AS in the first year and A2 in the second year.

After IGCSE, a student is eligible for any 10+2 level qualification such as local Boards- Class 12 CBSE/ ISC. Or International pre-university programs like IBDP and AS/ A levels (UK).

Textbooks are widely available and produced by reputable publishers such as CUP and Oxford. The required text books will be provided by the school, however we recommend that students not confine their studies to the specified text book alone, but instead use additional reference materials accessible in the library.
