FAQs – AP Tuition Classes
The first semester calculus course in college is the focus of the AP Calculus AB course. Similarly, the topics studied in first and second semester calculus classes (in college) are the main focus of AP Calculus BC course.
If you showcase an interest in Economics, Business, Biology or Chemistry for college, you can go ahead with Calculus AB. However, if you want to pursue a major in any Computer-related field, Applied Mathematics or Statistics, AP Calculus BC would be a better option to go with.
The table below summarizes the sections of assessment:
Section 1: Multiple Choice
Section 2: Free response
AP Calculus BC is generally considered to be more advanced than AP Calculus AB since Calculus BC covers 2 semester’s worth of portions while Calculus AB covers only one. Although the two classes have similar pass rates on their AP exams, the material in AP Calculus BC builds off of material covered in AP Calculus AB, which is a more introductory calculus course.
The following percentage split is only an estimate and can vary from exam to exam. This is just to give you an idea of which kind of topics are given the most attention.
