Computer science is something that is literally everywhere from our smartphones to the video games you play to music you listen to and much more.

A relatively newer course AP computer science principle was introduced by the College Board in 2016 but since then the advanced placement  CS course has been quite popular among students with over 100k students appearing for them each year and with over 50% of students bagging a grade over 4 it’s a relatively easy subject to score as well.

Unlike AP Computer science A, Advance Placement CSP is an introductory level course with absolutely no need for understanding coding languages and meant for all students irrespective of  past background or future ambitions.

A school year studying CS will help you learn and grow by applying your ideas to real-world solutions by using the same set of tools artists, writers, data scientists, and engineers use.

The course basically involves learning how computing impacts our world and basics like problem-solving, cyber security, and working with data and also great inlet into the world of coding.

A lot of students do take up the AP computer science principle pretty early in high school as the level of math required is minimal and nothing beyond elementary algebra and the fact that it requires limited to no experience in coding can take this course without any fear.

So it doesn’t matter if you take up a career in CS beyond high school or not but every high school student should give this course a try as it’s an excellent course even with the most casual interest in computing and if you wish to experience what coding works like you can always go for Advanced placement CS A

Advanced Placement Computer Science isn’t just limited to course work, you have to submit digital  artifacts to credit. Also, don’t worry if you don’t have a home computer, the school is supposed to provide you with one for you to complete the course work.

*So as not to create any confusion there are two computer science courses to choose from in advance placement programAP Computer Science Principles (APCSP) and AP Computer Science A,  wherever the author has talked about AP CS and not explicitly mentioned AP CS A he/She referring to APCSP only.
